Gulf / BP Oil Spill update

So I was reading on CNN the oil from the spill has reached Pensacola, FL in globs of oil washing up on the beaches. It's a very disgusting site which is sad and really upsets me. They are estimating 1,100,000 and 1,300,000 US gallons per day gushing out of the well head. Imagine all the marine life, the whales, dolphins, hundreds of different fish, shrimp that this is effecting.

Experts say if a hurricane develops it will pick the oil up and could deposit the oil on inland farmlands.
When I see this it makes me disgusted with the oil companies and their greed. I just keep in mind of Revelations 11:18 "...and he will bring to ruin those ruining the earth.”

Abby Sunderland gets rescued

I knew right away when I heard about Abby Sunderland, that her trip to circumnavigate by sailboat was going to be quite different than the other teen, Jessica Watson. For the original blog on this:
http://shannonlinquist.blogspot.com/2010/11/two-gutsy-teenagers.html

First Abby encountered problems right off the bat and had to stop into Cabo San Lucas for generator repairs. Then by the tone of her posts she didn't seem as upbeat and positive as Jessica was. (Jessica would tackle the problems and have that "oh ... it's just a little problem" attitude. Abby seemed to have alot more issues with her boat... and alot more problems she did have.

In the first week of May she had to stop again in Cape Town for repairs on her autopilot rig. She left Cape Town on June 6th and on June 10th she encountered 30ft seas with at least 5 "knock downs" !!
She states one of the "Knock downs" is when her sailboat got "demasted" - Serious Issues!!

There was a 12 hour rescue involving Australia and French. Alot of criticism has hit the parents allowing a 16 year old to go alone circumnavigating.

Nobody seems responsible here

Ok.. so I have Wed and Thursday off as I'm starting my regular 12 hr shifts Friday. Yuck
So what do I get to do on my day off? Drive Sue to the doctors, drive Aaron to pick up his check and go to the bank to cash it, drive back to pick up the scripts for Sue. Drive Aaron and Kenny to Gamestop, Wendys, Blockbuster, AND Food lion. I'm getting tired of playing chauffeur REAL quick.

Wonderful Tuesday

I mean that in a sarcastic way as the work day started off really sucky. At 7am I get a call from Roger (dispatcher at HRTI) wondering where I was as my shift started at 5am... then I get stuck at the tunnel for 25 minutes, then Robin pulls me aside asking why the school pick-up schedule was not given to Trevor this weekend. The thing was buried under all this paperwork on Kens desk!! If they had MS Outlook for interoffice email, things like this wouldn't happen.
Thats a major bone I have with this company - for a taxi company thats been in business for OVER 30 years, you'd think they would keep up with the times and have some sort of interoffice communications besides shoving papers/reminders in everyones lockers. And using outdated MS 2008 Streets and Maps where you can't search for businesses is ridiculous. They should be using Google Maps which is constantly updated, free and you don't need individual licences. Thankfully only 2 more weeks
